Through this arm of the group, Nonghyup supports the regional cooperatives in their operation and management. Extension services also facilitate education and training for member farmers, as well as implement various activities to enhance their social rights. Extension services also include R&D for new technology and the introduction of new crop breeds in agriculture and improvements in livestock. Nonghyup is working to enhance the quality of life of its member farmers.

 The "I Love Farm" Campaign

This campaign facilitates collaboration between Korea's farmers and urban residents to tackle the challenges facing agriculture and the nation's rural communities. It seeks to energize the agricultural industry and enhance the health of the nation's citizens and improve the quality of life in both urban and rural areas. To promote this mutual beneficial relationship, the program set up "One company, one rural village" sisterhood relationships. This program promotes direct transactions between these two parties and helps the expansion of sales channels for farmers by locating access to high-quality farm products for the urban companies.

 Activities for protecting farmers' rights

Nonghyup is a trustworthy friend of farmers. We pursue good agricultural policies to help farmers face diverse agricultural challenges, such as DDA/FTA trade negotiations. We also speak in one loud voice in defense of the rights of farmers through our participation in international NGO conferences and collaborative activities with other farm organizations. In partnership with the Korean Legal Aid Corporation, we provide free legal counseling services to farmers who would otherwise not have access to legal services.

Activities for a More Affluent Life for Farmers

Nonghyup helps farmers attain a more affluent life by engaging in various support activities for developing Korea's rural communities.

The following are some of the activities Nonghyup is engaged in to achieve this mission: on-site consulting for strengthening agricultural competitiveness; monthly presentations of the "New Agricultural Professional Reward" to model farmers; medical aid services for farmers and their families; providing supplies and financial donations when natural disasters occur; providing scholarships for farmers' children. Through the establishment of Korea's largest public foundation, the Nonghyup Culture & Welfare Foundation, we are now better positioned to act on behalf of farmers' welfare.

 The Nanoom approach to management

Through a Nanoom, or "sharing," approach to culture and welfare management, Nonghyup has made a positive and effective impact. Every year, we hold Nonghyup's "Concert in the Countryside," a large event in which we tour various small towns and villages, with over 80,000 participating annually. We also select 180 children of rural communities annually to form the "Global and Culture Experience Group." This group travels to Europe to broaden the life experience of young people.

We also organize programs that support households headed by children or grandparents, i.e. those households without a father and mother. Nonghyup also assists foreign wives in getting a chance to visit their native country.

Through Nonghyup's "nursing program for farmers," we educate volunteers in rural communities. Nonghyup also supplies 300 middle or high schools located in farming villages with books. "Nonghyup Scholarship," the "Filial Piety Award," the "Nonghyup Culture & Welfare Grand Prix" are all included in the social activities of Nonghyup, Korea's most committed believer in Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
