As a representative of agricultural cooperatives and NGOs in Korea, the NACF is in constant contact with overseas cooperatives and international organizations. International relations provide a window to share information, knowledge, and perspectives concerning the farm sector and cooperative society.

Although the NACF is involved worldwide, the NACF enjoys particularly strong relationships with organizations in Japan, China and other Asian countries, Western Europe, Russia, U.S.A., Canada, and Latin America. The NACF is a member of such prominent organizations such as the ICA, AFMA, APRACA, IFAP, IRU and EAOC, and has participated in the meetings and cooperative actions of numerous international bodies at both global and regional levels such as the OECD, WTO, APEC, UN FAO, IFAD, AARRO, FFTC and APO.

The scope of NACF's international cooperation involves not just contacts with overseas cooperatives and organizations but research on the model practices and management of these organizations, and related government agricultural trade strategies. Estimates of the potential impacts of government policy on the rural sector and communities and how to best address these impacts is the major focus of these studies.

In particular, international activities have proved helpful in finding supporters for NACF's position in agricultural trade negotiations, in which Korean agriculture has experienced negative results since joining the World Trade Organization (WTO). The NACF has worked with cooperative partners from other countries in minimizing the negative impact of trading agreements on net-food-importing countries, such as Korea.

Additionally, through international cooperation, the NACF has played an intermediary role in introducing advanced agricultural technologies to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of Korean agriculture.

Another key benefit of international cooperation is that it helps advance human resource development within the NACF.
